Our goal is simple: give you accurate, useful information so you can make a good buying decision. This page explains how we research, write and update our content.
Independence
Our recommendations are our own. Brands cannot pay to be included in or ranked higher in our guides. Affiliate commissions do not influence which products we recommend, and we include products from retailers that pay us nothing when they are the better choice.
How we research products
- Specifications: we compare manufacturer data such as wattage, coverage area, noise level, energy use, dimensions and weight.
- Safety: for products like heaters we check for recognized safety certifications (UL, ETL or CSA), tip-over and overheat protection, and recall history.
- Owner feedback: we read long-term feedback from verified owners to find reliability issues that spec sheets do not show.
- Value: we compare price against features, warranty and expected running cost.
When we have tested a product hands-on, we say so clearly in the article. When a recommendation is based on research rather than hands-on testing, we make that clear as well.
How we write
We use research and writing tools to help organize product data and prepare drafts. Every article is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by our editorial team before it is published, and we are responsible for everything we publish.
Keeping content up to date
Products, prices and availability change. We review our guides regularly, update them when better options appear or products are discontinued, and show the last updated date on each article.
Corrections
If you believe something we published is inaccurate, please contact us. We investigate every report and correct errors promptly.
